Maa Canteen has emerged as a crucial initiative, ensuring food security for thousands of underprivileged citizens across West Bengal. Launched by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee before the 2021 assembly elections, this welfare scheme provides nutritious meals at a nominal cost of just Rs. 5 per plate. Currently, Maa Canteen operates in 33 district hospitals as well as in municipal and corporation areas, offering a much-needed relief to those struggling with financial hardships.
