A 24-year-old food-delivery agent named Darshan was killed on the night of October 25, 2025, in Bengaluru after a chilling road-rage incident in which a couple allegedly chased him and rammed their car into his scooter. CCTV footage retrieved by police shows the vehicle mounting the pavement to pursue Darshan before striking him, resulting in fatal injuries.
The episode began when Darshan’s two-wheeler reportedly brushed against the side mirror of the accused’s car in Bengaluru’s Nataraja Layout around 9 p.m. He apologised and drove off, but the couple—identified as 32-year-old Manoj Kumar from Kerala and his wife 30-year-old Aarati Sharma from Jammu & Kashmir—took a U-turn, pursued Darshan with their car, and collided with his scooter. Darshan died on the spot; his 24-year-old pillion rider Varun survived with injuries and is being treated.
What has further horrified investigators and the public is that the couple allegedly returned to the scene wearing masks to collect broken car parts—as though concealing evidence. Police say that element of the CCTV footage helped reclassify the case from accident to murder under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and destruction of evidence.
Both accused have been arrested and are in judicial custody. The tragedy has sparked renewed scrutiny of safety for gig-economy workers and the escalating violence on roads in major cities. Witnesses say Darshan was merely heading to fulfil a food-delivery assignment when the deadly pursuit began. Police are now examining the couple’s cell-phone data, travel route and motives as part of the murder investigation.
