Over the past 10 years, ₹1.5 lakh crore has been invested in the state’s healthcare services. During the last 12 years, the number of medical colleges in the state has grown from 11 to 35, while MBBS seats have increased from 1,300 to over 5,000. This groundbreaking information was shared by speakers at a recent conference organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).
The speakers also highlighted that 2.5 crore families in the state have directly benefited from the Swasthya Saathi insurance scheme. Additionally, 160 units for free medical tests have been established, 110 fair-priced medicine stores have been opened, and generic medicines are now available at discounts of 60–70%. Furthermore, the licensing process for private healthcare providers has been significantly streamlined.
