AITC’s 4-Member Delegation to Meet Election Commission Today: Who Is on the List?

Kolkata: As announced earlier in a virtual meeting by Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, a 10-member TMC parliamentary delegation is set to visit the Election Commission of India (ECI) office in Delhi today (Friday).
On Tuesday, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien officially notified Chief Election Commissioner Jainesh Kumar about the names of the representatives in a formal letter.

According to party sources, the delegation will reach the Election Commission around 11:30 AM to submit detailed complaints along with documented evidence regarding several issues related to the SIR (Special Summary Revision / SIR process).
However, it remains unclear whether the Commission will allow all 4 representatives to attend the meeting together.

These MPs will present several complaints and concerns raised by the Trinamool Congress regarding the SIR process.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written two letters to the Chief Election Commissioner in the past week, demanding that the SIR process be immediately suspended.
Her key allegation:

  • The process is being carried out in an unplanned and unscientific manner.

Mamata also highlighted the recent deaths of three Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and reports of others falling seriously ill.
TMC has claimed that these tragic incidents occurred due to immense work pressure during the SIR process.

Abhishek Banerjee’s Directives to the Party

During a meeting with senior party leaders on Monday, Abhishek Banerjee instructed that:

  • The 4 MPs must meet the Chief Election Commissioner in Delhi.

  • They must submit a detailed memorandum explaining all complaints filed with the State Chief Electoral Officer over the last 20 days.

  • They should ask why the Commission has not taken any action so far.

  • They should carry the suicide notes of the BLOs who allegedly blamed work pressure.

Abhishek also issued a strong challenge to the Election Commission:

“If the SIR process is truly transparent, then let the meeting be telecast live.”

He stated that since TMC MPs are elected representatives of the people, they deserve full transparency—not “selectively leaked clips” intended to paint the Commission in a positive light.

TMC Demands Live Telecast of Meeting With ECI

Abhishek Banerjee publicly demanded that the meeting between the TMC delegation and the Election Commission be broadcast live.
