Bail Granted to Partha Chatterjee in ED Case, CBI Case to Carry On

The Supreme Court has granted former WB education minister Partha Chatterjee, bail in the Enforcement Directorate’s case, with a deadline of February 1, 2025 for his release, provided charges are framed and witness statements recorded by then. Chatterjee must cooperate with the trial, but even if granted bail, he cannot hold any government position, retaining only his role as MLA from Behala West.

Meanwhile, Chatterjee remains in jail due to the ongoing CBI case, where he has not yet been granted bail. He has appealed for bail in the CBI court, citing his age (73) and health concerns.
