Preparations for the upcoming by-elections in six assembly constituencies of West Bengal are in full swing. Notably, the ruling party, Trinamool Congress, won five of these six seats in 2021 which they are determined to retain, BJP having won only in Madarihat. According to opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, if the voting is conducted ‘fairly’, there are good chances for BJP to perform well not just in Madarihat, but in Medinipur (Paschim Medinipur) and Taldangra (Bankura) as well. He claimed that although BJP was way ahead in several seats during the last Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool won by rigging the votes.
