CM Mamata Banerjee Begins North Bengal Visit, Addresses Chicken’s Neck Security and Trade Priorities

Alongside administrative responsibilities, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, also shoulders the crucial task of ensuring the safety and well-being of the state’s citizens. Her ongoing visit to North Bengal holds significant importance. On Monday, before departing for North Bengal, the Chief Minister reminded everyone of her responsibility not only towards the state’s governance but also towards the residents of the strategically sensitive Chicken’s Neck region.

During her three-day North Bengal tour, CM Mamata Banerjee will first arrive in Siliguri on Monday and attend a business summit at Dinabandhu Mancha. Speaking from Kolkata Airport before her departure, she outlined her itinerary: “Today, I’ll attend the chambers meeting. Tomorrow, there will be a public service delivery event. The day after, I’ll chair an administrative review meeting. I’ll return to Kolkata after that. There’s a lot of work pending there as well.”

Apart from her administrative engagements, the Chief Minister made it clear that the state government remains alert in light of recent attempts by the Central Government to stir concerns over the security of the Chicken’s Neck area. She emphasized, “Chicken’s Neck is located close to Siliguri. Therefore, I consider it my responsibility to look after the people living there.”
