Codename “Ukasa”: Turkish-Based Handler Directed Delhi Terror Module; Bomber Umar’s 2022 Turkey Trip Revealed

Investigators probing the car explosion near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi have uncovered evidence linking the broader terror module to a Turkish-based handler operating under the codename “Ukasa”. According to police, the module was led by Dr. Umar Un Nabi, a professor at Al‑Falah University, who reportedly travelled to Turkey in 2022 where the initial plotting took shape.

Sources say Umar procured vehicles and coordinated logistics for a “spectacular terror strike” involving multiple IED-car bombs and assaults. The investigation reveals that the car used in the blast-a Hyundai i20-was one of three vehicles acquired, with the other two still untraced.

Diaries and coded notebooks recovered from rooms linked to Umar and his associate Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie in Faridabad show planning activities stretching back more than two years, including encrypted references to the “operation” between November 8–12.

The Turkish-based handler is alleged to have orchestrated communication via encrypted Telegram groups tied to outlawed organisations, enabling radicalisation and coordination across Indian states and abroad. The Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are now probing potential cross-border supply chains and whether the module had wider reach.

This unfolding investigation marks a significant escalation in domestic terror threats, especially given the urban setting and high-profile target of the Red Fort zone. Authorities have pledged expedited forensic and intelligence work to prevent follow-up attacks.
