AICC General Secretary and Bengal in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir highlighted the importance of developing a strategic ‘roadmap’ for the upcoming assembly elections. During his meetings with state and district Congress leaders, he suggested that instead of contesting all 294 seats and risking a complete loss, the party should focus on fewer constituencies where they stand a stronger chance of success. Apparently, this is an implication of a potential alliance with the Left, in Bengal.
Mir emphasized the need to build an election-focused organization and determine which senior leaders are willing to contest. He suggested that even securing a handful of victories in around 90 seats would be a significant achievement for the party. Furthermore, discussions have begun on the party’s restructuring, including the possibility of creating new organizational districts by splitting larger ones.
