A Delhi court on November 20 remanded four individuals to a 10-day custody under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the car-bombing near the Red Fort that occurred on November 10.
The accused include Dr. Muzammil Shakeel Ganai (Pulwama), Dr. Adeel Ahmed Rather (Anantnag), Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay (Shopian), all from Jammu & Kashmir, and Dr. Shaheen Saeed from Lucknow. The NIA had requested a 15-day custodial interrogation, but the Special Court granted them 10 days.
According to the investigation agency, these individuals have “played a key role” in planning and executing the blast. The agency’s statement added that they were produced in Delhi after being arrested in Srinagar, following production warrants issued by the Patiala House Court.
The suspect Amir Rashid Ali, whose name is on the Hyundai i20 used in the blast, was already in NIA custody on similar charges. According to the NIA, Ali is believed to have facilitated the purchase of the vehicle used by Umar Un Nabi, the alleged suicide bomber.
During the court hearing, Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were present in large numbers, and media access was restricted.
As part of the wider probe, the NIA is coordinating with multiple state law enforcement agencies — including Jammu & Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, and UP Police — to trace the full network behind the blast.
The agency’s swift arrests and custody order underlines the seriousness of the explosion, highlighting the possibility of a well-structured terror module behind the attack.
