Sebaashray, the flagship healthcare initiative launched under the leadership of AITC National General Secretary and AITC Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee, continues to transform lives across West Bengal. From around 150 elderly patients regaining their vision to children receiving critical medical aid, the initiative is ensuring free and quality healthcare reaches those who need it most.
Taking to X, Abhishek Banerjee posted on Thursday: “Since inception, 7,34,722 patients have benefited from the check-ups, diagnostic tests, free medicines and referral services on offer at Sebaashray health camps.”
On Thursday, as many as 20 elderly patients from the Sebaashray camp in Metiabruz, Diamond Harbour, underwent successful cataract surgeries at Vivekananda Mission Asram Netra Niramay Niketan. Simultaneously, 11 more patients from the Sebaashray health camp in Satgachia had their vision restored through surgeries at Renuka Eye Institute. These procedures, conducted at no expense to the patients, have given them a new lease on life.
For nine-year-old Sk Samiruddin, mobility was a daily struggle until Sebaashray, an example of the much talked about “Diamond Harbour model,” entered the scene. Thanks to the initiative, he was provided with a wheelchair, restoring his independence and bringing relief to his family.
Children with complex medical conditions are also receiving advanced treatment under the program. Neha Majhi, in need of specialised spinal care, is being treated by one of India’s top spinal doctors in Bengaluru, with a joint team from Kolkata and Bengaluru working on her case. Similarly, Almisa Khatun has received advanced medication and physiotherapy at NIMHANS, Bengaluru, with further arrangements being made for continued care in Kolkata.
