Indian National Congress Slams J P Nadda for Ignoring Fainting Guard During Gujarat Rally Speech

Vadodara, Gujarat – The Indian National Congress on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “selling out humanity,” after a security personnel fainted during a rally addressed by BJP national president J P Nadda – and the speech continued uninterrupted, according to party sources.

The incident took place during the “Sardar Unity March” in Vadodara, organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. As Nadda spoke from the stage, a guard reportedly collapsed near the dais. Despite this, party leaders present on stage did not pause the address, Congress and youth wing leaders alleged.

In a post on X , Congress criticised the BJP’s response, saying that “if leaders don’t stop for a faint guard, how will they care for issues like inflation, unemployment, or farmers’ distress?” The party demanded accountability and compassion from those in leadership.

According to eyewitness and media reports, the security guard’s collapse was followed by immediate medical attention – but only after bystanders intervened. Officials later said the guard appears to be stable, possibly collapsing due to exhaustion after prolonged duties.

Critics say the episode reflects deeper concerns about political theatre overriding basic human empathy – especially at public events where showing respect for individuals’ wellbeing should be paramount. Congress has called the incident symptomatic of what it terms “politics of indifference.”

Meanwhile, BJP leadership has not issued a public response acknowledging the lapse – fuelling further outrage from opposition leaders and civil society groups alike.
