Is Rahul Gandhi’s Role Under Scrutiny? More INDIA Leaders Support Mamata Banerjee

RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav endorsed Mamata Banerjee as the leader of the INDIA alliance, dismissing Congress’s objections. “Congress’s objection means nothing. We will support Mamata,” he said.

Banerjee had earlier suggested that the opposition must unite and hinted she could lead from Kolkata if given the opportunity. The leadership debate comes as opposition parties clash over strategy in the Winter Session. While Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, pushes for a discussion on the Adani issue, Trinamool wants to focus on topics like price rise and unemployment.

Despite Congress’s strengthened position after the 2024 elections, tensions have emerged within the opposition, especially after setbacks in Haryana and Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also backed Banerjee, advocating for her prominent role in the alliance.
