ISL 2024: Victory eludes East Bengal, as they face 6 losses back to back

Even the most passionate East Bengal fans may need to let go of hopes for a Top 6 finish in the current Indian Super League season. Despite equalizing with a penalty from Dimitrios Diamantakos, East Bengal succumbed to a Mourtada Fall header in the second half, marking their sixth consecutive match without a win this season. In the past two seasons, East Bengal managed to collect points in their first six games, but this year, despite significant investment in new players, they haven’t had much luck yet.

They will face a tough challenge in the AFC Challenge Cup in Bhutan starting October 26, where they will compete against Paro FC, Nejmeh FC and Bashundhara Kings in a round-robin format group stage. The new head coach, who has led the team for the last two matches, remains hopeful for a turnaround in this continental competition.

Is there any path to recovery for the team? Absolutely. They have a strong squad compared to their rivals and have what it takes to achieve success. However, certain areas and specific players are hindering the team’s progress.
