Kolkata Knight Riders’ Strategy: Retaining Core Team and Securing Venkatesh Iyer

The Kolkata Knight Riders wanted to retain the core of their team from last year, which is why they spent so much money on Venkatesh Iyer in the auction, mentor Dwayne Bravo has stated.

Last year, the Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL. A total of 11 players from that squad are part of this year’s team. The Knights did not put six players up for auction and bought five in the auction. Among them, the highest amount was spent on Venkatesh. Bravo said, “One of our primary goals was to bring Venkatesh into the team. That’s why we gave it our all to secure him. We have been able to retain 90% of the players who played in last year’s final. This is a very positive aspect.”
