Mamata Banerjee Alleges BJP Behind Planned Murshidabad Violence, Says Efforts Made to Spread Communal Unrest

Murshidabad Violence Was “Deliberately Orchestrated”: Mamata Banerjee Slams BJP.

In a sharp political escalation, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee broke her silence on the recent Murshidabad violence, accusing the BJP of fueling communal unrest and holding the Centre responsible for failing to secure the state’s borders.

Addressing a gathering of Muslim clerics in Kolkata on Wednesday, the TMC supremo claimed that the unrest was “deliberately engineered” and alleged a “larger conspiracy” aimed at disrupting communal harmony.

“I’ve seen reports indicating the involvement of elements from across the border in the Murshidabad violence,” Banerjee said. “Isn’t it the duty of the BSF to guard the international boundary? If such intelligence exists, then the Union Home Ministry must answer. The central government cannot escape responsibility.”

Hitting out at the BJP, Banerjee said the party was “desperately trying to stoke tensions in West Bengal” and pushing “anti-people laws” like the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 to polarize voters. “They wanted to incite riots during Ram Navami but didn’t succeed. I will not let anyone divide Bengal. We stand for peace and unity,” she asserted.

The statement comes at a time when the Trinamool Congress is facing criticism over a series of violent clashes linked to the controversial Waqf reforms. The political blame game has intensified, with the TMC and BJP locked in a war of words over law and order in the state.
