Mamata Banerjee: Evolving Times Call for Focus on AI & Data Science

At the conclusion of Students’ Week on Wednesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke about the evolving educational landscape and outlined her government’s achievements in the sector.

She highlighted Bengal’s leadership in skill training and the micro, small and medium industries, stressing that people no longer need to leave the state in search of employment. “As times evolve, we must prioritize fields like artificial intelligence and data science,” the CM stated. “Bengal is the heart of culture and education. From NASA to Washington, people from Bengal are present everywhere. The children of Bengal have brought light to the world.”

Banerjee also highlighted several student-focused government programs, including the ₹ 10 lakh smart card for higher education. “Girls receive Kanyashree from school all the way through university and there is also the students’ credit card, which enables students to study abroad or anywhere within the country,” she added.
