Parties in West Bengal announce their candidates for the upcoming assembly by-polls

With the stage set for by-polls on 13 November in 6 assembly seats of West Bengal, 4 major parties have announced their list of candidates. Trinamool Congress has fielded Sangita Roy from Sitai, Jay Prakash Toppo from Madarihat, Falguni Singhababu from Taldangra, Sujoy Hazra from Medinipur, Sk. Rabiul Islam from Haroa and Sanat Dey from Naihati. The main opposition party BJP announced the names of Rahul Lohar from Madarihat, Dipak Kumar Roy from Sitai, Rupak Mitra from Naihati, Bimal Das from Haroa, Subhajit Roy from Medinipur and Ananya Roy Chakraborty from Taldangra. 

 

Congress, officially ending ties with the Left in Bengal, has announced the names of their candidates for all 6 seats. They are: Paresh Nath Sarkar from Naihati, Habib Reza Chowdhury from Haroa, Bikash Champro Mary from Madarihat, Shyamal Kumar Ghosh from Medinipur, Tusharkanti Sannigrahi from Taldangra and Harihar Roy Singha from Sitai. The Left Front has also announced the names of 5 of their candidates: Arun Kumar Barma from Sitai, Padam Orao from Madarihat, Debkanti Mohanti from Taldangra and Manikuntal Khamrui from Medinipur. In an unexpected move, they have announced Debjyoti Majumdar’s name from Naihati, who is a member of CPIML (Liberation). The candidate from Haroa, is yet to be named.
