New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an insightful discussion with podcast host Lex Fridman, spoke about the importance of resilience, purpose, and unwavering faith. Addressing young individuals facing uncertainty, he emphasized that every obstacle is a stepping stone toward growth and that challenges are tests, not barriers.
“For me, every difficulty is an opportunity in disguise,” PM Modi said. He encouraged the youth to be patient and to understand that life offers no shortcuts. “Patience is key. Trust the journey, even when it’s tough,” he added.
When asked what advice he would offer to those struggling to find their direction in life, the Prime Minister stated that while difficulties are real, they don’t define who we are. He highlighted the importance of having faith that each individual has been sent for a purpose by a higher power, and that they are never truly alone.
“I firmly believe I have a purpose and that the divine presence is always with me. This conviction brings strength,” he shared. PM Modi also revealed his belief in the concept of ‘1+1’ — one being himself, and the other, the divine, reinforcing that he never feels isolated, especially with the support of 1.4 billion Indians.
“Hardships are meant to build endurance and inner strength. They aren’t here to break us but to prepare us,” he remarked.
A lifelong advocate of continuous learning, PM Modi stressed the value of staying curious and committed to growth. “I consider myself a student forever. Learning shouldn’t end, no matter your age,” he noted, recalling his own journey of mastering Hindi despite it not being his native language.
He also advised young people to shift their focus from “becoming something” to “doing something.” According to him, when goals are set around actions rather than titles, even partial success feels meaningful.
“If your aim is to achieve something concrete and you reach 80% of it, you stay motivated to reach 100%. But if your only goal is to ‘become’ something and that doesn’t happen, even your progress can feel like failure,” he explained, advocating for a mindset shift centered around effort and growth.
