Postal Worker Arrested Over Fake Passport

A temporary postal worker, Taraknath Sen, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly producing fake passports for Bangladeshi citizens. His arrest came as police relocated the passport office to cancel several passports issued with forged documents. Sen is the fourth person arrested in the scheme, which involved creating fake ID cards, passports and documents, charging between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 10 lakh per passport.

Others arrested include Ripan Biswas, Dipak Mondal and Samaresh Biswas. The unrest in Bangladesh prompted the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), which uncovered that postal workers were involved in collecting and handing over passports to the gang leaders in Barasat, Samaresh and his son Ripan.
