Sebaashray Mega Camp Delivers Healthcare to Over 10 Lakh People Across Bengal

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has announced the continuation of its large-scale healthcare initiative, Sebaashray Mega Camp, spearheaded by party MP Abhishek Banerjee. Running until March 20, the camp aims to provide follow-up consultations and essential medical support to people across Bengal.

In a post on X, the party stated: “From today until March 20, patients are encouraged to visit Sebaashray Mega Camps for follow-up care and required medical assistance. This initiative ensures ongoing support for those in need.”

Since its inception, Sebaashray has reached over 10 lakh beneficiaries, offering them free medical aid. On Sunday alone, around 35,000 people registered for services, marking one of the highest turnouts to date.

A statement from Abhishek Banerjee’s office highlighted the overwhelming response to the camp, noting that specialist consultations and follow-up treatments have drawn thousands of patients seeking quality care at their doorstep.

“This initiative reinforces our commitment to accessible and quality healthcare for all,” the statement read.

As part of the Sebaashray health camp, thousands received free eye examinations, with 430 individuals receiving spectacles on Sunday. The statement emphasized the transformative power of vision correction, noting that India has over 270 million people with vision impairment, including 9.2 million who are blind. Alarmingly, 40% of those needing glasses lack access due to financial or geographic barriers.

“Vision correction is more than just improving sight — it restores dignity, empowers individuals, and ensures that no aspiration remains out of reach due to circumstances beyond one’s control,” the statement concluded.
