Durga, a young girl from a village in West Bengal, faces a tough challenge when a government factory threatens to take over her family land. Despite the hardships, her mother relocates to Kolkata to ensure Durga receives a proper education. However, poverty continues to be a significant obstacle for them.
Durga’s life takes a turn for the better when she benefits from the ‘Sukanya’ program, ultimately becoming the state’s first female IPS officer.
Needless to say, the film is based on the struggles of Mamata Banerjee as an opposition leader, her rise to power and implementation of her brain-child scheme ‘Kanyashree’ for the education of financially struggling girl students, which went on to receive the UN’s recognition. Actress Koneenica Banerjee has portrayed the role of Mamata in the movie.
