Following the directive of Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee, the party has been conducting statewide programs to honor India’s brave soldiers and pay tribute to martyrs. After Saturday’s successful launch, the campaign entered its second day on Sunday. From Kolkata to rural Bengal, party leaders and workers held ceremonies with full military honors across districts, blocks, and panchayats. The two-day program received an overwhelming response from both Trinamool supporters and the general public. Numerous rallies and street meetings were organized in Kolkata on both days.
From North to South Bengal, ministers and leaders led marches and meetings in their respective areas. In the North, Ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya and Bratya Basu led rallies in their constituencies. Minister Arup Roy participated in a rally in Howrah, while in Basirhat, MLA Saptarshi Banerjee and others paid tribute to soldiers. In Debra, West Midnapore, MLA Dr. Humayun Kabir participated in a rally. In Pingla Block, the Trinamool Congress organized a march holding the national flag in honor of soldiers, led by Pingla Block President Sheikh Saberati and youth leader Manik Khan from Ghatal Organizational District. In Labhpur, Birbhum, MLA Abhijit Sinha led a rally with Trinamool workers.
On Saturday, prominent leaders such as Ministers Shashi Panja, Arup Biswas, Firhad Hakim, Debasish Kumar, and Baishwanar Chattopadhyay led rallies in Kolkata. The program was observed in every ward of Kolkata, Bidhannagar, and Howrah. In North Bengal as well, leaders and ministers actively participated in every district and block.
This initiative came in response to the recent attack in Pahalgam, where terrorists brutally killed innocent Indians. In retaliation, the Indian Army launched ‘Operation Sindoor,’ in which several soldiers were martyred. Mamata Banerjee announced this campaign to honor the sacrifice and bravery of these valiant soldiers.
