UIDAI Introduces Full Online Aadhaar Update from November 1; Revised Fee Structure Announced

Starting November 1, 2025, Aadhaar card-holders will be able to initiate major updates – such as changes to their name, address, date of birth or mobile number – entirely online via the myAadhaar portal, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

Until now, many demographic updates required an in-person visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra; under the new rules, those visits will be largely eliminated for specified changes. However, biometric updates (fingerprint, iris scan or photo) will still require a centre-visit.

The online process will incorporate automated verification against linked government records – such as PAN, passport, driving licence or ration card – in order to enhance speed and accuracy.

At the same time, UIDAI has implemented a revised fee structure: • Rs 75 for demographic updates initiated separately. • Rs 125 for biometric updates in most cases. • Biometric updates for children aged 5-7 and 15-17 will remain free under specified conditions. • Document update via myAadhaar portal will be free till June 14, 2026, after which standard fees apply.

In addition, the government has emphasised linkage of PAN with Aadhaar – with a deadline of December 31, 2025. PAN cards not linked by January 1, 2026, may face deactivation or loss of functionality in tax and financial transactions.

For Aadhaar users the immediate steps are clear: ensure your mobile number is linked and active with your Aadhaar, review your demographic details ahead of time, and plan any biometric updates early to avoid service interruptions. The changes mark a significant step towards fully-digital Aadhaar services and fewer in-person visits.
