WB Govt.’s Social Security Initiative for Non-Workers of Tea Gardens

West Bengal government has launched a social security scheme for non-workers residing in the tea-belt of north Bengal. Under the ‘Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana’ (BMSSY), all non-workers aged 18 and above in tea gardens will be included in the program. While beneficiaries are required to contribute ₹55 annually, the government will add ₹660 to the scheme.

According to an administration source, a person aged 20 will receive a lump sum payment of ₹2.72 lakh when they turn 60. For others, the payout will be adjusted based on their age at the time of enrollment. In case of accidental death, the beneficiary’s next of kin will receive ₹2 lakh, while in the event of natural death, the family will receive ₹50,000.
