As 2024 comes to a close, schools are grappling with a financial crisis, with no sign of the crucial Composite Grant funds that support their operations. Furthermore, development funds for several schools have been exhausted. As a result, many institutions are forced to tap into their own resources to pay the part-time teachers, without whom they cannot function. The Grant is typically disbursed through the Sarva Shiksha Mission, but despite repeated attempts to contact officials, no response has been received. Calls and messages sent to the education department and state education minister Bratya Basu have gone unanswered.
