A global trial for a portable ultrasound device that can detect breast cancer is underway at IPGMER in Kolkata. Conducted by the WHO, the trial aims for rapid and accurate diagnosis, especially in India, where breast cancer is often undiagnosed in younger women. Launched in April, it is also being conducted at three other centers.
The trial involves 70 women who have not previously been tested for breast cancer, with oversight from the WHO. Initial results are promising, suggesting a significant breakthrough in breast cancer diagnosis.
